When looking to remodel your kitchen be aware of today’s trends so that you are not updating with an already outdated look.
At the same time when you see something in a magazine or on the internet that looks amazing, be sure that it fits in your area and neighborhood. I have met quite a few people that work in the city and are drawn towards a contemporary or modern style. I ask them simple question. How long do you think you may live here? If the answer isn’t “forever” (or at least 10-15 years) then consideration needs to be made for what will appeal to the typical new home buyer in Chatham.
So how about transitional or traditional? It’s the No. 1 style in the area. The No. 1 requested kitchen continues to be white with a contrasting island. As shown in the main image of this blog, it’s a local home, one we just finished. This style seems to be a lot of homeowners description of their “dream kitchen”.
Many homeowners aren’t sure what they like. There are so many choices out there so you need to be sure to get some professional advice. Not everyone gets to go to the National Kitchen & Bath show each year, I attend regularly. This year it’s in Chicago and it takes a full two days to walk the floor, ever year there are new innovations introduced so its worth the trip for me so I stay current. If you are interested in going you can find out more about it here at www.kbis.com
I have recently found a great resource for searching for kitchens, bathroom, and most rooms in the house. The website is www.houzz.com. Searching there is awesome and you can add things you like to an ideabook which can be shared with others. Once you find things you like the program fins similar things and helps you sort through the hundreds of thousands of images from projects and designers all over the world.

"For Gordon Crawford:
Gordon made my experience as a first-time home buyer as stress free as it can be. He came highly recommended, and didn't disappoint. I had dealt with a couple of agents before I met Gordon, and both were a nightmare. Moving from Hoboken, Gordon introduced me and my fiancé to the Morris County area. He spent an exceptional amount of time pointing out the local hot spots, pros/cons of neighborhoods, and overall made me feel comfortable narrowing the search. His approach to finding the right home was refreshing, if not tedious, taking us to various listings to see a single detail we may like so he could narrow the search. He often would say, "I know this isn't the right place for you, but what do you think about the yard/kitchen/bedrooms/etc?". When the listing for the home we eventually bought came up, he immediately knew we'd like it.
Gordon walked us through the inspection, negotiation, and closing process. In the rare case when he wasn't able to answer the phone, Gordon's responsiveness was excellent as well. I love the home I'm in, but if I ever need a change, I hope to have Gordon as my agent in the future."
