Calling Harold and Kumar: White Castle is testing out beer and wine service to go with their famous sliders.
For years, fans of the cult square burgers have been telling the powers that be to add beer to their menu. And now those die-hards will be happy to learn that White Castle is experimenting with that very idea in Lafayette, Indiana, where a traditional White Castle coexists with a Blaze Modern BBQ — another restaurant concept the company is testing. Jamie Richardson, a spokesman for White Castle, told the Associated Press, We're certain that we might have some customers who might enjoy some sliders and a beer or wine, as well. (The Lafayette, Indiana, Blaze Modern BBQ is already serving wine and beer to dine-in customers.)
Besides granting long-standing followers their wish, White Castle is also seizing an opportunity to grow their business. The companies see alcoholic beverages as a growth opportunity after years of flat sales, said David Henkes, vice president at Technomic, to the AP.
White Castle is not alone in dabbling in the stronger stuff. Burger King introduced it's Whopper Bar, which serves up brewskis; select Starbucks have begun rolling out beer and wine to make their stores social gathering spots that last from morning to night; Five Guys has quietly received liquor licenses for select stores; and Sonic rolled out booze with its burgers this past summer.
And it's not just Buds these fast-food joints are serving. At the Sonic in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, you can choose from draft beer, 25 bottled beers and 10 varieties of wine. The Whopper Bar — located in Kansas City, Orlando, and Miami, with more expansions planned — is meant to be a premium, more sophisticated experience. Julio Ramirez, EVP of Burger King's Global Operations, told QSR Magazine, These are going to look like a place you'd want to go and have a drink.
What do you think? Do you crave a brew with your burger?

"For Gordon Crawford:
Gordon made my experience as a first-time home buyer as stress free as it can be. He came highly recommended, and didn't disappoint. I had dealt with a couple of agents before I met Gordon, and both were a nightmare. Moving from Hoboken, Gordon introduced me and my fiancé to the Morris County area. He spent an exceptional amount of time pointing out the local hot spots, pros/cons of neighborhoods, and overall made me feel comfortable narrowing the search. His approach to finding the right home was refreshing, if not tedious, taking us to various listings to see a single detail we may like so he could narrow the search. He often would say, "I know this isn't the right place for you, but what do you think about the yard/kitchen/bedrooms/etc?". When the listing for the home we eventually bought came up, he immediately knew we'd like it.
Gordon walked us through the inspection, negotiation, and closing process. In the rare case when he wasn't able to answer the phone, Gordon's responsiveness was excellent as well. I love the home I'm in, but if I ever need a change, I hope to have Gordon as my agent in the future."
