Don't we all love our smart phones? So do scammers!
SPAM Nearly 70% of smartphone texters say they get spam messages. And we're three times more likely to respond to spam received by cellphone than when using a computer. WHAT TO KNOW Don't click on links or text "stop, or "no" to prevent future texts. This only confirms that yours is a live, active number for future spam. Use and regularly update anti-malware designed for smartphones.
THE ONE-RING CON In a longtime calling scam, crooks leave voice messages asking you to call back to a specific number as you've won a sweepstakes or have an undeliverable package. Now they just program calls to ring once. Curiosity gets you to return the call and you end up with international charges on your phone bill, plus scammers know that it's a real number. WHAT TO KNOW Beware of unfamiliar calls within area codes 268, 284, 473, 649, 664, 767, 809, 829, 849, 876.
BANK MESSAGES These texts claim to be from your bank or credit card company. You're instructed to click an included link, which leads to a look-a-like, scammer run website seeking your name, account number and on-line credentials. WHAT TO KNOW If there's really an account problem, you might get an email, however it would include your name and a portion of your account number. Or your bank or credit card company may telephone you with an alert, but it won;t ask for any personal data.
Keep in mind that smartphones are prime targets for old-fashioned theft! Don;t let yours reveal your secrets it it winds up in the wrong hands.

"For Gordon Crawford:
Gordon made my experience as a first-time home buyer as stress free as it can be. He came highly recommended, and didn't disappoint. I had dealt with a couple of agents before I met Gordon, and both were a nightmare. Moving from Hoboken, Gordon introduced me and my fiancé to the Morris County area. He spent an exceptional amount of time pointing out the local hot spots, pros/cons of neighborhoods, and overall made me feel comfortable narrowing the search. His approach to finding the right home was refreshing, if not tedious, taking us to various listings to see a single detail we may like so he could narrow the search. He often would say, "I know this isn't the right place for you, but what do you think about the yard/kitchen/bedrooms/etc?". When the listing for the home we eventually bought came up, he immediately knew we'd like it.
Gordon walked us through the inspection, negotiation, and closing process. In the rare case when he wasn't able to answer the phone, Gordon's responsiveness was excellent as well. I love the home I'm in, but if I ever need a change, I hope to have Gordon as my agent in the future."
